Groundbreaking for Highlands Health and Rehab
Highlands Health & Rehab facility in Scottsboro, AL broke ground last week
on a replacement facility. Highlands Health & Rehab is being developed by
Jackson County Health Care Authority (JCHCA). Hoar Construction will serve as
the project’s general contractor.
The 31,000 square foot Highlands Health & Rehab, will be a one-story, 50-bed skilled nursing facility. The new facility will be connected to the southwest end of the existing skilled nursing facility.
The North wing of the 50-bed Facility containing 11 private rooms is dedicated to short-term rehab, i.e., physical, occupational, and speech therapy. The two remaining wings are dedicated to traditional long-term care, and contain rooms sized for future semi-private occupancy. For this project, a total of 45 private rooms and 5 semi-private rooms are currently indicated on the plans.
The Facility is designed with a central dining area, large multi-purpose room, administrative offices, and a central nurse’s station with adequate support spaces, including clean and soiled utility rooms, janitor room, nourishment room, pharmacy/med preparation, and wheelchair/stretcher storage room.
